Chris Packham Clothing Launch Event
Join naturalist, TV presenter, photographer and award-winning environmental campaigner Chris Packham to mark the launch of his new range of clothing exclusively with Cotswold Outdoor.
After a childhood spent cultivating a lifelong interest in wildlife and the environment, Chris is passionate about getting new generations involved and sparking as deep a passion as he did, discovering wildlife in his garden. “Young people have become disconnected from nature, principally because they don’t get to meet it first hand, see, hear or smell it. They don’t get to feel it and therefore they never have the chance to fall in love with it. If one child puts one of these coats on, goes out, meets nature and falls in love with it then I’ll be happy.”
The unique range of clothing has been developed by Chris over the last four years in partnership with British outdoor clothing specialists. There are no noisy Velcro fastenings to disturb wildlife, and a camo-inspired print design to help get closer to those species that aren’t dichromatic – although there are some brighter shades as well. Each jacket comes with a removable and washable pocket liner for more unsavoury finds, as well as a “wet” pocket. There is also a set of fold out field guides, and a printed lining with the footprints of some of the UK’s more common species, as well as a magnifying glass and links to charities’ websites where budding zoologists can learn more about the species they find and identify. There are also adult styles, with quiet, woven waterproof fabrics and soft-lined pockets for phones and tablets, so that the whole family can enjoy a day out finding wildlife.
As well as being on hand to talk about the new range Chris will also be presenting a short talk and slide show followed by an audience Q&A.
There will also be a chance to win items from the new range as well as signed copies of Chris’s award-winning memoir “Fingers in the Sparkle Jar” in the evening’s charity raffle. All proceeds from this will go to the Mammal Society, British Trust for Ornithology, Buglife and Butterfly Conservation.
Light refreshments will be supplied on the night.
