RSPB x Pennies

Together we can turn the tide

Pennies is the leading charity working to protect and grow micro-donations for organisations like the RSPB.

Pennies allows you to donate as little as one penny at checkout to support the RSPB’s work, so you can do your bit without breaking the bank. Collectively, these small donations really do add up.

Let’s make a difference together and protect our precious marine life.

Helping marine life thrive

Some of the best landscapes to explore are our incredible coastlines. With breathtaking views, and the chance to spot seabirds like Atlantic puffins and northern gannets, they’re precious places. These coastal ecosystems don't just shape our picturesque beaches; they're what make our walks so special.

But today, our oceans need our help. Despite over a third of our seas being officially protected, less than 1% are safe from damaging practices, putting marine life in danger. But if we act now, we can ensure that nature continues to flourish, protecting our walks along the shore for years to come.

Why we’re supporting the RSPB

We're proud to partner with the RSPB to protect marine life and coastal habitats. Whether you like to walk, cycle or paddle, we're committed to sustaining our breathtaking coasts for future generations to enjoy.

£25 could fund a waterproof portable speaker to help us survey red listed species.

£140 could fund a GLS tag to track a young Manx shearwater’s epic journey across the globe.

£153 could fund one day of fieldwork to restore vital marine habitats.

What is Pennies?

Pennies is an award-winning fintech charity with an important mission: to protect and grow micro-donations, ensuring people have digital ways to keep donating the small sums of money that are so vital to charities.

As a trusted leader in digital micro-donations, Pennies has created a movement that encourages giving, offers businesses a powerful way to demonstrate social purpose, helps charities make a greater impact, and gives the public a way to donate without cash, as part of their daily lives.

In an increasingly cashless society, Pennies’ ‘digital charity box’ gives customers paying by card or digital wallet a convenient way to add a small donation to their purchase, when shopping with participating retailers.  Whether in-store, online or in-app, it’s a simple, affordable, data-free way to donate, with 100% of funds raised going to charity.

Millions of people are now using the digital charity box. To date, Pennies has enabled more than 100 million micro-donations, raising millions of pounds in much-needed additional income for charities in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Together, payment providers, retailers and their customers are helping hundreds of charities make a meaningful difference to the causes and communities they serve.

Because micro-donations matter, now more than ever.
