Lighting

When the sun sets, your adventure doesn't have to end. The right lighting is a critical performance tool, giving you the power to navigate trails, manage your camp, and move with confidence long after dusk. Our collection is selected to provide reliable, powerful illumination for any outdoor scenario.

For any hands-free activity, a high-performance LED head torch is the definitive choice. Whether you're on a pre-dawn ascent or navigating a path after dark, features like adjustable beam patterns, multiple brightness settings, and a red light mode to preserve night vision are vital. Look for a rechargeable head torch for sustainable power on multi-day trips.

Once at camp, a bright camping lantern transforms your space, providing broad, usable light for cooking or planning the next day's route. For a powerful, focused beam to scan the path ahead or for use as a backup, a powerful handheld torch is an invaluable asset. From a lightweight head torch for running to effective tent lighting, the right choice gives you complete control of your environment.

A torch gives you a focused beam of light, which is great for seeing things in the distance. A lantern gives a much broader, 360-degree light, which is ideal for lighting up a whole area like a tent. A head torch is designed to be worn on your head, keeping your hands free for other tasks.

The Goal Zero Crush Light Chroma Lantern is ideal for ambient lighting with adjustable brightness (50–3000 lumens) and colour modes, while the MPOWERD Luci Series offers solar-powered portability for backpacking. For durability, the Coleman BatteryGuard Lantern Camping Light delivers 600 lumens.

Lumens are a measure of how bright a light is. The higher the number of lumens, the brighter the light will be. For general camping, around 100-300 lumens is plenty, but for navigating in the dark, you might want something a bit brighter.

  • Tent/campsite tasks: 200–500 lumens.
  • Night hikes: 500–1000 lumens.
  • Emergency brightness: Up to 2000 lumens for extended visibility.

A headlamp is preferred for hands-free navigation, especially with a red-light mode to preserve night vision. Flashlights are better for focused tasks but less convenient for active use.

LEDs are brilliant. They're much more energy-efficient than old-fashioned bulbs, which means your batteries will last a lot longer. They're also much more durable and less likely to break if you drop them.

A flashlight with 500–1000 lumens balances brightness and battery efficiency for nighttime walks. Adjustable modes (e.g., Ledlenser models) allow flexibility for varying conditions.

It depends on your trip. Rechargeable lights are great for shorter trips and are more eco-friendly. For longer trips where you might not have access to a power source, a light that takes standard batteries might be a better bet, as you can just carry a few spares.
